🏡 Why Your Walk Matters: Building Guided Journeys Hospice & Palliative Care!
When Every Moment Matters… Our Vision for Guided Journeys Hospice & Palliative Care is a place that offers peace, comfort, and joy for you and your loved ones at the end of life. Imagine receiving expert medical care and personalized attention in a space where you are welcomed and greeted with a friendly face. Here, we celebrate life – your life – a life well-lived and well-loved. It’s a life not defined by illness, but by how you choose to live it. It is about providing a better ending and creating space for more of life’s moments. This is Hospice.
A place offering this level of comprehensive, compassionate support does not yet exist in Lethbridge or surrounding communities.
By participating in the Walk to Remember, you’re doing more than just walking. You are taking tangible action to make this vision a reality.
💙 This Year, We Walk for “Gigi” :
This year’s Walk to Remember is held in special honour of Margaret “Gigi” Truscott (Watson) – a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a lasting inspiration whose memory helped spark the very heart of Guided Journeys Foundation.
– Gigi’s Legacy: Fueling Our Mission
Gigi received loving, dedicated care at home for seven years from her daughter, Leslie Lyon, and son-in-law, Jim Lyon. In 2022, their care journey was joined by Gigi’s grandson, Cooper – now a board member and the foundation’s marketing director – when he moved home to help.
Through this intimate, hands-on experience, their family witnessed firsthand the gaps in local end-of-life care. They saw clearly how much our community needs a trusted, peaceful hospice option – a place that supports both the individual and their loved ones through every step of the journey.
In 2022, as Cooper began designing the Guided Journeys website and logo, he brought his ideas to Gigi. Before showing it to the Board, she reviewed his work. She lit up, and with that spark in her eyes, gave it her special seal of approval – the kind only a grandmother could give.
It felt like fate, as though everything was coming together at exactly the right time. Gigi’s journey didn’t just shape the Foundation – it became a powerful, personal reminder of why this work matters so deeply.
Her wish was to see the Foundation succeed and for all of her family, friends and loved to ones to please support and donate to the Guided Journeys in lieu of gifts or flowers. Her profound understanding of the need, rooted in her own experience, fuels our mission and lives on through this walk and the hospice we are working to build. 💙
